Sade Sati 2026 is the seven-and-a-half-year period in which Saturn (Shani) transits the 12th, 1st and 2nd houses counted from your natal Moon sign. With Saturn in sidereal Pisces through 2026, it applies to Aquarius (final phase), Pisces (peak phase) and Aries (first phase). Each phase lasts roughly two and a half years.

Notice what is missing. Your Sun sign. A "Pisces" in a magazine horoscope may not be Meen rashi at all, because Vedic Sade Sati uses the sidereal Moon sign. Check yours in a free kundli before you worry.
How to check your own Sade Sati phase, step by step
You can work out your Sade Sati status in five steps using only your birth details and a correct chart.
- Get your Moon sign right. Enter your date, exact time and place of birth in a sidereal (Lahiri) chart. The Moon changes sign about every two and a quarter days, so a wrong birth time can put you in the wrong rashi.
- Locate transit Saturn. In 2026 Saturn is in Pisces. Count from your Moon sign: if Saturn is 12th, 1st or 2nd from it, you are in Sade Sati.
- Note the phase. 12th is rising, 1st is peak, 2nd is setting. Each phase is about two and a half years, with some back-and-forth when Saturn retrogrades across a sign boundary.
- Check Saturn in your birth chart. Is natal Saturn your lagna lord or yogakaraka? For Taurus and Libra ascendants, Saturn is a yogakaraka, and its transits often bring hard work that pays. Its Sarvashtakavarga bindus in Pisces also matter: four or more usually softens the transit.
- Check your running dasha. A Saturn mahadasha or antardasha during Sade Sati makes the period louder. A strong Jupiter or Venus dasha often keeps it in the background.

A note on the dates you may see elsewhere. Some sites list the retrograde as starting on 26 July and ending on 10 December. The station happens in the early hours of 27 July and 11 December in India, so a site using a different time zone, or writing the date of the night before, shows the earlier day. For NRI readers in Canada or the USA, the local calendar date really is 26 July and 10 December.
What does vakri Shani mean for Sade Sati 2026? Three practical things.
- Delays get longer, not worse. Approvals that were already slow tend to stay slow until mid-December. Follow up; don't panic.
- Old matters return. A loan, a property dispute or a pending family talk comes back to the table. Finish it.
- Nobody changes phase this year. Saturn stays in Pisces through the retrograde. The next shift is on 3 June 2027.
Many sites call a retrograde Saturn "doubly dangerous". I disagree. In Vedic astrology a vakri planet is considered strong (chesta bala), and its results become more internal and repetitive. Uncomfortable, yes. Destructive, no.

Pisces (Meen): the peak phase
Saturn on the Moon puts weight on the mind: tiredness, heaviness, too much responsibility at once. Saturn aspects your 3rd, 7th and 10th from here, so marriage, partnerships and career all feel tested. For health, I only speak of tendencies: joints, teeth and sleep deserve regular check-ups, and any symptom should go to a doctor, not an astrologer. If your Moon is in Uttara Bhadrapada nakshatra, ruled by Saturn itself, the peak often feels more familiar than frightening.
Aquarius (Kumbh): the setting phase
Saturn in your 2nd house works on family wealth, speech and food. Harsh words cost more than usual in this phase. On the Moon sign alone, he is in "peak Sade Sati". On a full reading, his yogakaraka is moving through the house of gains. I would tell him: workload rises, sleep needs care, and a promotion is possible, with paperwork likely clearing after Saturn turns direct on 11 December 2026.
